What kind of language does hawaii use?
I have read a lot of things about hawaii being racist toward whites but how is it there for blacks?
We will be relocating there because of the Air Force but reading some of the feedback about how whites are treated it makes me wonder if it is the same for blacks? Also, how is the job market? I'm a spouse and I'll be looking for a job and I was wondering if it would be best to start looking extremely early for work ..as in now because we won't be moving there until November or wait until I'm actually there.

Aside from the location for maybe a nice vacation, etc many of my fellow Asian Americans should visit Hawaii to see a majority Asian society especially on the capital island and city Honolulu Oahu.America has just two Asian senators and both are from Hawaii. 1 3 of Asian house of representatives members hail from Hawaii. Very interesting culture.I'm Asian from Hawaii and in the mainland when talking to mainlanders I noticed for some reason a much larger percentage of white folk have been to Hawaii or know someone living there compared to Asian mainland folk. I did tell Asian American female classmates at college all about my state, the heritage, and its role in Asian American politics etc and they were pretty interested.

Don't know if I should move to Hawaii or Ireland (19 year old woman)?
I'm a 19 year old woman currently living in Puerto Rico. In September I will be moving to New York for two semesters of college, but I have decided to take that year to save up money and then move to either Hawaii or Ireland for a while. It's a long story. The point is that I want to know which of the two would I be more likely to find a job that could either provide housing, or leave enough for me to have a place. I want to live humbly, I don't care for big amount of money. I just want to learn about new places and meet new people. Another thing is what are some things I should know about either of the two? Where would I be more welcome, etc. I don't know if it's an issue but I am Puerto Rican, and I do have tanned skin and Latina features, would I come across racism or have a hard time acquiring acceptance? I want to live in a simple place, where it's not too busy. I lean towards Hawaii because of the familiar tropical environment although I know the culture is very different but I lean towards Ireland because it would be something completely different and new for me.So.. any information or opinions are greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance I'm a legal resident of America... Puerto Rico is part of the United States for those who didn't know .

I'm asian well actually half white half asian and been living here for a while now and I consistently notice how the asian american experience here is quite different than the rest of the states. The island of Oahu is the only majority asian metro area of 500,000 people in the entire USA and the rest is evenly split between polynesian, white, and mixed race like me . I think most my classmates who were asian or half asian were already third generation or later only 1 in 4 had parents that immigrated to the US after 1970 so already that makes the local asian american culture different from the more internationalized asian american 1st 2nd gen stereotype in the mainland where i notice most people have pretty close ties to asia by comparison.Honolulu, Hawaii and the island of Oahu which it sits on has about 80 % of the population of the state. Of this population the majority, 60 %, is Asian, 15 % pacific islander which makes 75 % total population asian and or pacific islander and you can really feel the influence. Japanese and Chinese and various asian and common filipino last names are very common among most the government officials, real estate owners, classmates in school college, etc. I've lived there before, legally part of the US as a state but quite a different culture from say Maine.I'd go so far to say Hawaii is culturally the most distinct state which is why some mainlanders have trouble adjusting to it because they move here thinking it's like the rest of US but just warmer like maybe southern florida weather but farther away but find out that asian and pacific islander which are related to asian people and culture are a majority.
