When Blagojevich was Governor of Illinois he apparently approved funding for a Baptist Church, which understandably didn't sit well with Bob Sherman. Davis launched a rant against this guy for being an atheist, saying she didn't want the children of that state to be exposed to his philosophy. My question is why is this even an issue at that level of government? Why is an " atheist activist" even allowed access to the political process based on his non belief? okay so i saw a black panther in my neighbors yard one night and it was just laying down like a cat. at first i thought it was a dog then i realized it was way too big to be a dog. it was a black panther for sure. i live near a lake and there are lots of trees and corn fields around me. Where can I find deaf culture in Illinois?
I want to major in Deaf Education and minor in Interpreting. However, I sadly hardly know any ASL and I dont know much about Deaf culture. I'd LOVE to find a church for the Deaf, or a camp, or something that I can go to to learn as much as I physically can to learn about the Deaf. I really wish I knew more ASL and everything, and I think a great way to learn would be by associating with the Deaf. I don't know anyone that is deaf right now, and I only know how to finger spell, a few random words, and numbers. So do you know of a Deaf camp I can go to even though I don't know ASL? Or somewhere I can go to meet deaf people? I am 16 years old, however I am graduating high school in April and am currently taking 2 classes at a junior college. I will be majoring in Deaf Education and graduating in 2015. I am trying to find ASL classes because I only know numbers, letters, and a few random signs. I'd love, love, LOVE to be fluent in sign language, to have deaf friends, and to take part volunteer for camps, programs, church, etc. for the Deaf. I live in the south suburbs of Chicago. Where can I find programs or camps nearby for the Deaf? The only thing that worries me is that I don't know much ASL so I don't know how i would be a help at a camp, and I don't know how I'd communicate. but i would love to be around Deaf culture more. If i were to volunteer at a camp, i'd love to be a helper for the little ones to learn kinda what it's like to teach deaf ed.
