As someone who grew up in Texas and now lives in Louisiana, I don't think we should be forced into changing our marriage laws. Our state constitutions define marriage as between man & woman only .Unlike racial enfranchisement, where racial equality is enshrined in the US Constitution, marriage has always been a states' rights issue.So I'm not against Gay Marriage, but I totally think the states' voters should decide on it, since marriage has always been a states' rights issue. pliqt But interracial marriage dealt with Racial Equality, which actually IS in the US Constitution...There's nothing in that Constitution about sexual orientation... pliqt But it was the 14th Amendment that said all were equal citizens, regardless of RACE.
