Question: Homeless people in new york city?

I'm doing a documentary on homeless people and would like to interview some. Does anybody know of a place in New York City where I'm sure to find a few homeless people? Preferably a not- so- shady area where i wont get jumped for my wallet :]

Use the internet to find a church that has a food bank or kitchen. You will find them there. And you won't have to go deep into the city at odd hours to talk to them.
