Question: A church in west virginia would not accept money offered to it because it was from lottery winnings....?

Should a church accept money from an abortion doctor...? I have mixed feelings on this issue, myself. I will say I think the church in West Virginia may have had a point, sticking up for their principles...ie, that gambling is not good for families. Your comments please ?

They are rigid fools. God gave us free will. Some people gamble and some don't. To turn down this gift is foolish.

The above vs states specifically the kind of money a church CANNOT accept. Give the money to a charity of your choice ... it is just as good.

If the church preaches that gambling is a sin, they should not accept money from gambling proceeds. Same goes for the abortion doctor or any other 'sin'.

Neither. By accepting money from "ill-gotten gain " they would be condoning the activity. Good for them.

The church appears to be sticking up for what they preach. The bottom line on all of this is highly dependent upon each church's position and teachings.

I cannot think of where right now but the Bible also says "the wealth of the wicked are stored up for the righteous. " So why not take their money and use it for the furtherance of the gospel?

Money is a "neutral " thing. It has no intrinsic morality to it. It is what attitudes OTHERS bring to it which may make it problematic. Why did Judas toss back the silver coins? It is up to the individual church whether they feel comfortable accepting money from gambling or from abortion doctors. But by God's standards, isn't EVERYONE who attends church a SINNER? So shouldn't ALL the money given in offering be "tainted? " And what is the money used for by the church? For God's work. Does that make the money good? Forgive others as I have forgiven you.
